Post Natal Pilates
Mama & Baby sessions
Suitable for
All post partum mamas who have had their 6-8 week check with the GP and been cleared to exercise. If you have symptoms of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation) , Pelvic Girdle pain and/or Low Back pain it may be useful to see a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist before starting exercise. Pilates is the perfect exercise for addressing these common post natal conditions. As a Physiotherapist I can provide modifications during the class to suit any needs that you may have in relation to any of these conditions. No prior experience of Pilates is required.
Expect
A friendly, fun and nourishing environment to exercise in with your little one. These classes are mat based, with the use of props such as Pilates balls and resistance bands. They are challenging, but also low impact and will incorporate lots of pelvic floor, abdominal and gluteal strengthening. There is also a focus on pelvic floor relaxation and flexibility throughout the body. Breath work is core to Pilates and will be practiced throughout to help you to reconnect with your movement patterns. Expect pauses during your workout to feed, cuddle, nappy change and rest. A place to meet like minded mamas and make new friends.

Expect to exercise safely within the limitations of your pregnancy in a nurturing environment. The class is an hour long which includes 45 minutes of exercise and 15 minutes to wind down, enjoy a herbal tea and have a chance to meet other local mamas to be if you wish to. You will be asked to complete a health questionnaire before attending the class to ensure that you are safe to exercise with your pregnancy.
